Not Gorgeous - We Are... LP

When Not Gorgeous sent me their LP to check out, I knew I wanted to help out the second I got through listening to it because I wanted to put it right back on. This is an infectious summer album calling back to all my favorite NJ favorites like Lifetime and Kid Dynamite. It's tight, well written, and catchy as hell.

Bonded together by a shared love for fast punk and hardcore, Not Gorgeous features musicians who have also played in such bands as The Scarlet Letter, Dead Set On Destruction, Hello Romeo!, and The Ghost Armada.

The seeds of Not Gorgeous can be traced back a decade when husband and wife duo of Lauren (drums) and Jason Nagy (guitar) started formulating the project. Bassist Chris Barrett eventually joined the fold, traveling from Maryland to New York City for occasional practices. Things slowed down during the pandemic, but things got cooking again with the addition of vocalist Todd Currier in 2023.

Not Gorgeous began gelling together, playing a few shows in the New York Tri-State area, and in the summer and fall 2024, they headed to Backroom Studios and recorded their debut LP, We Are, with Scot Moriarty.
